Tae Kwon Do is a martial art, it originated in Korea and the name means 'the art of kicking and punching'. We use kicks, punches and blocks in a series of moves called 'forms' and in sparring each other. We practice a non-contact style of Tae Kwon Do; each kick or punch is delivered with full force but lands several inches from the target that allows students to develop their skills without hurting each other. This class is for students with experience in Tae Kwon Do and want to progress through the belt levels towards a black belt. All equipment will be provided. The instructor is a Senior black belt instructor and member of USA Tae Kwon Do Masters Association.

with Susan Campbell, Hummingbird Researcher and Naturalist
Join Susan Campbell, a licensed hummingbird bander and lead researcher in North Carolina, for an engaging look at the fascinating lives of ruby-throated hummingbirds. Drawing on more than 25 years of research, Susan will explore the identification, ecology, and seasonal movements of North Carolina’s only native hummingbird. She’ll also share practical tips for creating gardens that provide the nectar and habitat these remarkable birds need.
Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to watch a live hummingbird banding demonstration. Using live traps set up in the garden, Susan will demonstrate how researchers safely capture, handle, measure, and band hummingbirds before releasing them, explaining how banding contributes to our understanding of these tiny birds and their conservation.
