The Youth Basketball League offers the opportunity for youth ages 5-12 to learn individual and team skills in a fun, inclusive, and safe team environment. Participants will be led by a volunteer coach. This program uses a variety of sites across the City of Durham. Participants must be prepared to practice any night of the week. Games are held primarily on Saturdays, with some weeknight games potentially being included.
When selecting the league age group, please register based on the child's age as of November 1, 2026.
Registration will take place September 1-Oct. 2, 2026. Prior to registering, please review all relevant league information by visiting our Youth Basketball Webpage

Want to know all about staying in the Overnight Lodge at Blue Jay Point County Park? Complete information will be provided at the Leader Orientation Workshop or LOW, which is conducted by Blue Jay staff once a month for those coming to stay in the Lodge. At least one representative from each group staying in the Lodge MUST attend a LOW at least two months prior to that group's reservation date.
LOWs are also appropriate for individuals interested in knowing if a Lodge stay would be beneficial for their group, even before making a Lodge reservation. You must be present for the entire workshop to be certified to stay in the Lodge. To read more about the Lodge and its Environmental Education mission, check out this info.

Adventure in nature with your preschooler at the park. We'll read a nature-themed book, then take a walk on the wild side to find the nature right outside our door. Children must be accompanied by a parent, and of course, wear boots or sneakers that can get a little dirty! Parents must accompany children. Pre-registration is required. Please note this program is weather dependent.

Join us on a 1-1.5 mile hike along the trails of Beech Bluff County Park! During our hike, we will go back in time and learn about key moments in the history of the land and people before it became a park. Topics covered include the generations-long story of those who lived and worked here. Along the path, we will get to see the Adams family barn. This program is suitable for families and all ages. This program will take place along the Longleaf Loop & Meadow Loop.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be certified to teach a variety of American Red Cross water safety programs, including all levels of the "Learn-to-Swim" program. Course fee includes two manuals. Participants must be at least 15 years old; must pass a swimming pre-test consisting of 25 yards front crawl, 25 yards back crawl, 25 yards breaststroke, 25 yards elementary backstroke, 25 yards sidestroke, 15 yards butterfly, back float for one minute, tread water for one minute; and they must successfully complete the Red Cross on-line session for the course (information will be emailed to participants after registration). Course registration will close on October 31, 2025.

Grab your jackets and hiking boots! During this abbreviated winter version of our Wilderness Warriors Camp, we will spend 3 action-packed days sharpening our survival skills. From tying knots and building shelters in the acres of woods to preparing and preserving food at the Harvest Hub, we will learn valuable survival techniques while navigating the unique environments of Beech Bluff. Drop off begins at 8:30 and all campers must be picked up by 5:30pm. Campers bring own lunch and snacks. This camp is open to campers ages 8 - 12 years.
