Join us in the Main Library's Children Programming Room every Tuesday in July (while supplies last) for a special program dedicated to supporting elementary students and their families all summer long. Thanks to a generous grant from the Durham Library Foundation, the Durham County Library will be distributing Summer Learning Bags designed to help students in grades K-5 avoid the “summer slide,” a time when many children lose progress in reading and math skills.
Each Summer Learning Bag is thoughtfully assembled and filled with fun, engaging materials including hands-on activities, math games, sensory items, school supplies, and books to inspire a love of reading throughout the summer months.
Bag Giveaway Times:
Morning: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Afternoon: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
To ensure equal access, children must be present to pick up their Summer Learning Bag. Bags are distributed one per child based on their rising grade level and are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
