DESCRIPTION:Alzheimer's Association Dementia and Caregiving Education Pro
 grams \n\nJoin the Alzheimer's Association - Eastern North Carolina Chap
 ter and Durham County Library for a year of informative programs designe
 d to support and educate caregivers helping to provide them with the too
 ls they need to successfully provide compassionate care for individuals 
 living with dementia and themselves.\n\nPlease feel free to bring your l
 unch and covered beverage to enjoy during the programs. \n\nThe programs
  are in room 3214 located on the third floor from 12 pm-1 pm at the Main
  Library located at 300 North Roxboro Street. \n\nSeating is limited and
  registration is appreciated\, however feel free to drop in and seats sh
 ould be available. Programs are free and will last about an hour. Choose
  to attend the programs most helpful to you! You do not need a Durham Co
 unty Library card to register and attend the programs.\n\nParking is ava
 ilable in the library parking lot or at the North Queen Street Garage wh
 ich is located at 115 North Queen Street which is directly across the st
 reet from the library behind the apartments. Parking is free in the gara
 ge. Please bring your parking ticket to a service point for validation.

 nces between normal aging and dementia and strategies for addressing con
 cerns. \n\nMarch 20 - Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia \n\nLearn t
 he difference between Alzheimer's and dementia\, causes\, risk factors\,
  stages\, and treatments.\n\nApril 17 - Building Foundations of Caregivi
 ng\n\nFocuses on helping the person living with dementia take part in da
 ily activities\, providing the right amount of support and balancing saf
 ety and independence while managing expectations. \n\nMay 15 - Understan
 ding Alzheimer's and Dementia \n\nLearn the difference between Alzheimer
 's and dementia\, causes\, risk factors\, stages\, and treatments\n\nJun
 e 12 - Managing Money: A Caregiver's Guide to Finances \n\nLearn about t
 he costs of caregiving and the benefits of early planning and how to avo
 id financial abuse and fraud\; start a conversation about finances\, ass
 ess legal and financial needs\; and find support. \n\n\n\nJuly 17 - Expl
 oring Care and Support Services \n\nExamines how best to prepare for fut
 ure care decisions and changes including respite care\, residential care
 \, and end of life care.\n\nAugust 21 - Dementia Conversations: Driving\
 , Doctor Visits and Legal & Financial \n\nOffers tips on how to have con
 versations with family about the challenging and uncomfortable topics of
  going to the doctor\, deciding when to stop driving\, and making legal 
 and financial plans.\n\nSeptember 18 - Healthy Living for your Brain and
  Body \n\nProvides science-based recommendations on how certain behavior
 s affect the brain and body and strategies for healthy decision-making i
 n key areas.\n\nOctober 16 - 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's \n\nLearn a
 bout the warning signs of Alzheimer’s and the differences between normal
  aging and dementia and strategies for addressing concerns.\n\nNovember 
 20 - Caregiving During the Holidays \n\nUnderstand what caregivers are f
 acing during the holiday season\, ways to support them\, and strategies 
 to adjust expectations and holiday plans. \n\nDecember 18 - Responding t
 o Dementia-Related Behaviors \n\nDetails common behavior changes and how
  they are a form of communication\, non-medical approaches to behaviors
