DESCRIPTION:Alzheimer's Association Dementia and Caregiving Education Pro
 grams \n\nJoin the Alzheimer's Association - Eastern North Carolina Chap
 ter and Durham County Library for a year of informative programs designe
 d to support and educate caregivers helping to provide them with the too
 ls they need to successfully provide compassionate care for individuals 
 living with dementia and themselves.\n\nPlease feel free to bring your l
 unch and covered beverage to enjoy during the programs. \n\nThe programs
  are in room 3214 located on the third floor from 12 pm-1 pm at the Main
  Library located at 300 North Roxboro Street. \n\nSeating is limited and
  registration is appreciated\, however feel free to drop in and seats sh
 ould be available. Programs are free and will last about an hour. Choose
  to attend the programs most helpful to you! You do not need a Durham Co
 unty Library card to register and attend the programs.\n\nParking is ava
 ilable in the library parking lot or at the North Queen Street Garage wh
 ich is located at 115 North Queen Street which is directly across the st
 reet from the library behind the apartments. Parking is free in the gara
 ge. Please bring your parking ticket to a service point for validation.

 ight amount of support and balancing safety and independence while manag
 ing expectations. \n\nMay 15 - Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia \n
 \nLearn the difference between Alzheimer's and dementia\, causes\, risk 
 factors\, stages\, and treatments\n\nJune 12 - Managing Money: A Caregiv
 er's Guide to Finances \n\nLearn about the costs of caregiving and the b
 enefits of early planning and how to avoid financial abuse and fraud\; s
 tart a conversation about finances\, assess legal and financial needs\; 
 and find support. \n\n\n\nJuly 17 - Exploring Care and Support Services 
 \n\nExamines how best to prepare for future care decisions and changes i
 ncluding respite care\, residential care\, and end of life care.\n\nAugu
 st 21 - Dementia Conversations: Driving\, Doctor Visits and Legal & Fina
 ncial \n\nOffers tips on how to have conversations with family about the
  challenging and uncomfortable topics of going to the doctor\, deciding

 ays \n\nUnderstand what caregivers are facing during the holiday season\
 , ways to support them\, and strategies to adjust expectations and holid
 ay plans. \n\nDecember 18 - Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors \n\
 nDetails common behavior changes and how they are a form of communicatio
 n\, non-medical approaches to behaviors and recognizing when help is nee
