About the event

Slide on in and catch the groove! Our Jazz Listening Series in collaboration with the legendary North Carolina Central University Jazz Studies Program is back! We’re bringing the soul, the swing, the stories, and the shine of Black musical brilliance right into the historic Stanford L. Warren Library.

Each session is a fun, come‑as‑you‑are listening hangout where we spin classic cuts, uncover hidden gems, and spotlight the Black innovators who shaped jazz from the Carolinas to the world. With insight and vibes straight from NCCU’s award‑winning faculty, students, and alumni, and local area jazz afficionados you’ll hear the music—and the culture—through the ears of real jazz insiders.

Expect laughter, lively conversation, and plenty of “Wait, who was THAT?” moments as we celebrate the rhythms, roots, and rich traditions of African American jazz.

Pull up, tap in, and let’s groove together. The music is fire, the company is warm, and the culture is ours to celebrate.
