About the event

Join Durham Parks and Recreation and take your game to the next level at our Advanced Beginner Youth Softball Skills Clinic!!! This 3 week clinic is designed specifically for girls aged 10–15 who have at least one year of playing experience and are ready to build on their fundamentals. This clinic focuses on sharpening technique, developing advanced skills, and improving game strategy in a high-energy, supportive environment.

What to Expect:

Position-Specific Training: In-depth instruction for infielders, outfielders as well as some basic pitching and catching techniques.

Hitting Techniques: Improve power, consistency, and situational awareness at the plate.

Mental Game & Leadership: Build confidence, focus, and communication on and off the field.

Led by experienced coaches and former competitive players, this clinic offers a challenging yet encouraging atmosphere where athletes can grow, compete, and gain the edge needed for higher levels of play.

Who Should Attend: Players aged 10–15 with at least one full year of experience who are motivated to improve and compete at a more advanced level.

What to Bring: Glove, bat, helmet, fielders face mask, water bottle, and a positive attitude! Cleats are preferred but if they do not have cleats, tennis shoes are fine.

Paddle Program: Sunset Canoe Tour

Join park staff for a peaceful evening paddle on Lake Crabtree! As the sun sets, we’ll explore Bird Island, Briar Creek, and other scenic corners of the lake while keeping an eye out for herons, beavers, turtles, and more. This program is recommended for ages 8 and up, but an adult will need to register. Register in advance to reserve a canoe for two or three people on this guided tour. Lake Crabtree County Park will provide the canoe, paddles, and life jackets for each registered group. Just bring your sense of adventure and enjoy the evening on the water. Rules & Restrictions for the Sunset Canoe Tour Registration is required. No walk-ups allowed. You may register yourself and your household members (ages 8+) for a boat. You’ll provide the names and ages of 2-3 participants during registration. Each boat must have at least one person over the age of 18, and the optional third person must be under the age of 12. Expect to get wet; leave valuables in your car and bring a change of clothes. Paddling requires basic mobility and balance to safely enter, exit, and maneuver boats.
