Come join a supportive group environment for self-paced digital skills courses. We'll be using Northstar Digital Literacy, a free online resource available to all Durham County Library patrons. A library staff member will be present to get you set up and answer questions as each participant moves through online modules on their own at their own pace. Northstar allows you to track your learning progress and earn badges or certificates for completing a course. These classes are best for learners who have at least basic keyboard and mouse skills. Our computer lab has a limited number of laptops for use, so bringing your own laptop and headphones is encouraged. Computer and digital skills topics include: Phone Keyboard Basics & Logging In Basic Computer Skills Internet Basics Using Email Windows 10 & 11 Mac OS Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Google Docs Social Media Information Literacy Career Search Skills Your Digital Footprint Accessing Telehealth Appointments Cybersecurity Basics These classes are self-paced and each week participants will choose which lessons they want to complete on their own. You do not need to have come to the first class to attend the following weeks and there is no requirement to commit to all of the classes through April. Register for the weeks that work best for you! This series will take place on our outdoor terrace, accessible from the 4th floor. Need a break from your hectic schedule? Release the stress of your day with outdoor Gentle Yoga at Main Library - Nicole Varnado, RYT-200, is offering this six-week series of gentle flow yoga for adults on Tuesdays! Classes are accessible to all-comers, and will include guided meditation, breathwork, movement, and yoga philosophy. Please bring a yoga mat or towel for class (we have a few available if you do not have one), and wear 'moveable' clothes. If you bring a reusable water bottle, you can refill it at one of the filling stations in the library. If class must be relocated due to inclement weather, registrants will be notified by email.

Join the STEAM Team in the Innovation Lab during specified open hours to do paper crafts by creating your own Zine and fold origami! Zines (pronounced "zeens") are tough to define because they can be so many things! Basically, they are self-published booklets containing anything you want - art, writing, drawings, recipes, poetry, comics, etc. The content and look are totally up to the creator. It's all about self-expression. Origami is an ancient art technique to fold paper into exciting and unexpected shapes. This is a self-paced activity. You can drop in during the listed Open Lab Hours.
